celine trio bag Huntsville designer Eliana Harless will debut internationally-inspired line at Fashion Week Alabama 2014I love to see how the different types of dresses are made and I would love to design a wedding dress for somebody else. This weekend marks the debut of EH Styles, a special occasion clothing line straight from Huntsville by way of Brazil. The young designer behind EH Styles is Eliana Teifke Harless, a Brazilian who came to Huntsville in 2011. She will present her 13-piece collection for the first time during Fashion Week Alabama s big finale runway show on Saturday at the Von Braun Center. My collection for Fashion Week Alabama is inspired by different cultures Brazil, America, Europe, said Harless. I think it s nice, this experience I had of learning about a new culture when I came to America. That s something that inspired me. Harless came to the United States on an exchange program as an au pair in 2011. She lived with and worked for a family in Owens Cross Roads for two years, caring for their three children. During that time, she met Nathan Harless, and the two married in August 2013. Eliana designed and made her wedding dress for the big day, as well as the veil and gloves she wore. Shortly after getting an American work permit, she set about designing her own fashion line something she d always wanted to do. I used to design dresses for me and my sister back in Brazil, to practice the new (sewing) techniques I was learning, she said. Harless is from Rio Grande Do Sul, the southernmost state in Brazil. Before coming to the United States, she worked for clothing companies in Brazil, where she discovered her love of sewing. She works now at David s Bridal in Huntsville, and creates pieces for her own line in her spare time. She has also taken classes in dressmaking and design. I m doing alternations on wedding dresses and I love it, she said of her work at David s Bridal. I love to see how the different types of dresses are made and I would love to design a wedding dress for somebody else. Her collection took about two months to put together. She describes the clothes as romantic, elegant and multicultural. I really love Brazilian fabrics, she said. And I really like to work with special occasion types of fabric, like chiffon, satin. I like fabrics with a little bit of stretch or texture. She hopes to travel to visit family in Brazil at least once a year, and plans to bring back fabrics to the United States to use in her designs. For her runway show, her clothes will be worn by models selected through the Alabama Fashion Alliance which is managing Fashion Week Alabama as well as four of her friends. Three of the friends are from Brazil and one is from Spain; something that appealed to Harless since her collection is inspired by different cultures. She is currently working on a website to showcase her designs, and hopes to expand into accessories like headbands, belts and bracelets. More information about EH Styles is available on her .
