Wegmans is tops in the latest Meanwhile, Walmart Supercenter made the bottom of the list of the 55 supermarkets surveyed.
More than 27,000 readers of the magazine rated supermarkets on service, quality of perishables, prices and cleanliness.
The survey appears in the magazine's May issue, and includes tips on shopping smarter and cheaper.
The family-owned Wegmans based in New York, operates 83 supermarkets including one in Silver Spring Twp. Wegmans received an 88 out of 100 in the survey.
Following in second place is Trader Joe's, a low-cost specialty retailer based in California. It received a 87 score.
Meanwhile, Publix and Costco were third and fourth on the list with scores of 85 and 84, respectively.
Giant Food Stores, based in Carlisle, received a score of 77, while Weis Markets earned a 76 score. Target/Super Target, with it vast array of groceries, received a 77 score, as well.
At the bottom of the list, Walmart Supermarkets, scored a 67. According to the magazine, respondents gave the chain subpar marks for checkout speed, employee courtesy, and meat and produce quality, despite the fact 28 percent of those surveyed said they shop at Walmart.
